UNICEF Turkish National Committee
In 2006, the donation check of $10,000 USD was presented to UNICEF at an elementary school on the outskirts of Istanbul. The school, which has 3,000 students, is in an area of very low-income families, many of whom are in need of help. It is located in an area where UNICEF, together with the Ministry of Health and Education, implements vaccination programs.
During the week before the event, the school organized art and composition contests among students, highlighting the importance of immunization and routine vaccination. At the check presentation event, the winners of this contest were given Amway prizes. Amway Turkey also contributed to the school by building them a PA system for $2,000 USD.
On the day of the event, Amway organized a Children's Theater group to perform a play for the students, again highlighting the importance of immunizations. It was a first for the many of the students and very much enjoyed. The day came to a close when teachers and parents invited the participating guests to tea and offered them cakes and other snacks they cooked themselves.
