2005 Guangming Charity Award
On Sept 20,2006, Amway China was honored with the Guangming Charity Award for the third consecutive year for their long-term commitment to corporate citizenship and their special devotion to public volunteer service in 2005.20 world-famous multi-national companies as Motorola, Intel, Microsoft, Citibank, Ericsson and Sony have also been recognized alongside Amway China by Guangming Newspaper, a major media overseen by the Central government. It was stated that "Amway testified its commitment of Giving Back To the Society by continuous dedication and volunteerism efforts."
The Guangming Charity Award, started in 2004, focus on recognizing MNC's charitable contributions made in China. The nominees are all from top Fortune 500 companies. The judges' panel is composed of public celebrities and officials from the Ministry of Civil Affairs, MOFCOM, News Office of State Council Ministry-level officials from People's Congress and other government departments presented the gala ceremony and awarded the top 20 charitable companies.
When asked why Amway dedicated so much effort to volunteerism, Audie Wong, who accepted the award on behalf of Amway, said: "We hope the volunteer activities can enhance corporate comprehension, improve community recognition of our business and enhance corporate reputation. And we will continue to provide more financial and manpower support to volunteers."
In the past two years, Amway China has established 64 chapters of volunteer associations across the country. 18,000 Amway volunteers have donated over 110,000 volunteer hours to make a difference for the environment, handicapped and underprivileged people.
