Easter Seals Drop Zone, Ontario

That’s right, on Aug. 24, 2006, a team of Quixtar Canada employees and Independent Business Owners (IBOs), led by Communications Manager Angela Abdallah, participated in the Easter Seals Drop Zone event in Toronto, ON. These courageous eight raised funds for the charity and showed the depth of their commitment by rappelling down a 16-story building, surrounded by friends, family, other participants, and interested on-lookers.
But you didn’t need to look at the top of a building to find these superheroes – you could have looked at the top of the fund-raising list for the province. Sales Manager Jeff Johnson was the highest individual fund-raiser for all of Ontario, obtaining over $5,300 in donations. And the Crusaders, as a team, were at the top of the charts, raising over $17,000 in total – more than doubling the second-place squad!
The other members of the Caped Crusaders were: Nathalie Obregon (Marketing), Mike Giorgini (Catalogue), and IBOs Karen Watson, Patrick Reyes, Deborah Meyer,Kevin Kooger, and Kevin Barnard.
The Quixtar Caped Crusaders continue to encourage any and all IBOs across the country to get involved, either by participating in the event and raising funds, or simply by pledging a donation to someone else who is participating! It is through extraordinary experiences like the Drop Zone that we can all help Easter Seals kids enjoy ordinary experiences like going to camp, where many of these kids get their very first taste of independence. Funds raised also help offset the cost of expensive equipment like power wheelchairs, braces, lifts, and ramps – things that help these kids overcome their challenges and live life to its fullest.
But that’s not all! On Sept. 22, 2006 a team of six well-intentioned Quixtar employees, captained by Distribution’s Tim Ross, took to the streets of London to participate in the Power Play for Easter Seals! Together they raised an extra $1,700 and spent a fair amount of time with NHL legend Guy Lafleur!
Also on the team were Customer Support’s Denise Kennedy and Louise Menard, Communications’ Jason Menard, Distribution’s Erin Stibler and Kevin Kolkman. Although the team only one of its three games, they were content knowing that the true winners were Easter Seals children in Ontario!
Quixtar Canada Corp. is a proud National Supporting Sponsor of the Easter Seals Drop Zone events. Easter Seals is Quixtar’s North American charity of choice, as part of the Alticor Inc. group of companies’ One by One program supporting children’s charities.
